Breast cancer is responsible for over 24% of all cancer-related deaths among women in Pakistan. The disease affects women of all socio-economic classes.
At The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), women who are diagnosed with breast cancer receive comprehensive medical treatment, including radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery from experienced physicians, nurses and technicians, using advanced equipment and facilities.
AKUH’s annual breast cancer campaign strives to increase breast cancer awareness and stress the importance of early screening. The hospital offers financial assistance to patients who cannot afford treatment. Every year AKUH’s Patient Welfare Programme and The Patients’ Behbud Society (PBS) assist thousands of patients who cannot otherwise afford treatment, including a significant number of patients suffering from breast cancer. However, the number of patients who seek financial assistance continues to increase. With your Zakat and Sadqa donations, AKUH can continue offering treatment to many more breast cancer patients.
