Breast cancer is responsible for 30.8 per cent of all cancer related deaths among women in Pakistan and affects women of all socio-economic classes.
At AKUH, women who are diagnosed with breast cancer receive comprehensive medical treatment, including radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery from experienced physicians, nurses and technicians who conduct diagnosis and treatment using advanced equipment and facilities.
AKUH reaches out to families who cannot afford treatment through its breast cancer campaign, which includes increasing awareness, support groups and financial assistance. In 2016, the Hospital's welfare programme assisted over 2,500 patients who could not afford the treatment for cancer, including a significant number suffering from breast cancer. However, the number of patients who seek financial assistance continues to increase.
